Thank you all for voting! The WhatsOnStage.com Awards came to a Shrektacular close yesterday, with our amazingly talented cast scooping up not one, but two awards! Our very own Lord Farquaad, Nigel Harman, picked up Best Supporting Actor in a Musical and Amanda Holden – who just last week became a mum to a little princess for the second time – won Best Actress in a Musical! Not only that, but as she was unable to attend the ceremony, she was presented her award on the set of Britain’s Got Talent (in Glasgow) by TV ogre… Simon Cowell!

Our new Shrek Dean Chisnall, who takes over the role on 29 February, took to the stage bathed in green light to perform ‘Who I’d Be’ as part of the awards show. He was absolutely incredible and we’re so excited for his first performance!

AUDIENCES RAISE £20K FOR CHARITY!

Students from Blessed Sacrament Primary School came to visit the swamp last week where Shrek and Donkey presented them with a cheque for £20,000 generously given by Shrek audiences, and a matching amount from the Show’s producers! The money was raised for the charity The Place 2 Be making a lifetime of difference to children in schools. Visit their website to find out more.

For all you Strictly Come Dancing fans out there, check out this amazing video of Chelsee Healey and her partner Pasha Kovalev dancing to ‘I’m A Beliver!’ Chelsee and Pasha took a trip to Shrek The Musical to get into character for their Jive, and they ended up top of the score board!

STAGECOACH THEATRE AWARDS

It’s been an inspirational week in Duloc! The Stagecoach Theatre Arts, Children’s Achievement Awards were presented by Nigel Lindsay at the Theatre Royal, Drury Lane, on Monday.

The Awards, launched last year at the House of Commons, are organised by Stagecoach Theatre Arts, the world’s largest network of part-time children’s performing arts schools. They were established to recognise, acknowledge and reward young people from all walks of life who have either faced adversity, demonstrated bravery, shown courage, cared for others and proved they are good role models for young people.

Members of the cast of Shrek The Musical joined this year’s winners at the presentation, which was followed by a special questions and answers session with members of the cast.

Our very own ogre, Nigel Lindsay, presented this year’s Awards, and said: “These young people have displayed enormous courage and endurance. They are all young heroes and deserve special recognition.”

KIMBERLEY EXTENDS HER STAY!

BREAKING NEWS!!!

Our Princess extends her stay in the swamp until Monday 21 May 2012! We’re thrilled to announce Girls Aloud star KIMBERLEY WALSH extends her stay in the swamp and will be playing Princess Fiona until Monday 21 May 2012.

As a member of pop group Girls Aloud, Kimberley has sold 10 million records, released five platinum selling albums, won a Brit award and played sold-out arena tours. Neil McDermott as Lord Farquaad and Dean Chisnall as Shrek will join Richard Blackwood and Kimberley Walsh from 29 February 2012.
